Last year’s Champions Tennis champion and crowd favourite Fabrice Santoro is returning to Champions Tennis for another year. Across his 21-year career Santoro earned six singles titles and won two Grand Slam mens doubles titles, one mixed doubles Grand Slam and 25 doubles titles overall. One of only two players from Belgium to have been ranked in the top 20, Xavier Malisse will also take to the court. Over an 18-year career, Malisse reached World No. 19 and achieved three singles career titles. Former World No. 6 Wayne Ferreira retired from the sport in 2005. Turning pro in 1989, South African Ferreira won 15 career titles during his 16 years as a professional. Mikael Pernfors also returns to the Royal Albert Hall. Pernfors reached the men’s singles final of Roland Garros in 1986, losing only to then World No.1 Ivan Lendl.
Owned and managed by IMG, this year’s Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall marks 21 years of the event. It runs over the course of four days, with a day and evening session each day. Watching the greatest players on the grandest stage, Champions Tennis is the ultimate season finale for the ATP Champions Tour.
In its 21-year history, Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall has featured many of tennis’ greatest stars including John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Andy Roddick, Tim Henman, Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg, Goran Ivanisevic and Bjorn Borg, with special appearances from Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, Sir Elton John, Billie-Jean King and Novak Djokovic.
