Roger Federer and Björn Borg to launch Laver Cup countdown at Palais Eynard in Geneva this Friday Feb 8
· Fans are invited to welcome the superstars of tennis at Palais Eynard
· Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 8 at 10am
· Laver Cup tickets to be awarded as prizes to lucky winners at the public event
Roger Federer and Björn Borg will join fans and city officials to celebrate the countdown to the Laver Cup in Geneva on Friday, February 8, as tickets go on sale.
“Being able to play the Laver Cup in my home country is a dream come true and I’m excited about joining our Team Europe captain Björn and seeing lots of fans in Geneva as part of the countdown on Friday,” Roger Federer said.
“Geneva is a great sports city – I’ve played some memorable matches at the Palexpo and it would be very special to win the Laver Cup with Team Europe at home here in Switzerland.”
“It is a great pride for Geneva to host the Laver Cup. It is also an opportunity for the residents of our city to meet the planet’s best players and vibrate to the rhythm of their games,” said Sami Kanaan, Mayor of Geneva.
Mayor of Geneva Sami Kanaan will officially welcome the champions of tennis at a public appearance on the steps of the magnificent Palais Eynard.

· The Laver Cup is a three-day tournament pitting a team of six of the best tennis players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the world

· Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have confirmed for Team Europe
· The tournament is named in honor of Australian tennis legend Rod Laver, the only man to win two calendar-year Grand Slams, and one of the greatest players of all time
· The unique format of the tournament showcases tennis superstars competing on the same team, playing singles, pairing up in doubles and cheering each other on from the sidelines
· The inaugural Laver Cup was held at the O2arena in Prague, Czech Republic, in September 2017, with Team Europe defeating Team World 15-9
· In September 2018 more than 90,000 fans attended the Laver Cup at the United Center in Chicago, where Team Europe once again edged out Team World to win the second Laver Cup 13-8.
