In his ATP Finals debut, Andrey Rublev ripped nine aces but dropped serve once in each set.
Dominic Thiem defeated defending-champion Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-3 avenging his loss to the Greek in the 2019 final.
No. 6-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas dropped to 4-2 at the ATP Finals.
“I think the conditions are pretty fast here, so I’m super happy with my win,” said Dominic Thiem after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas.
“He dealt with my serve better and took time, stepped back,” Stefanos Tsitsipas said summing up his defeat to Dominic Thiem.
Dominic Thiem raised his 2020 record to 23-7, including 20-1 after winning the first set.
