US Open Brings Major Excitement
For the first time in Open Era history, the US Open welcomes a Sunday start. Jannik Sinner is reigning men’s champion and Aryna Sabalenka is defending US Open women’s champion. Each singles champion will collect a Grand Slam record $5 million check at the Open this year. Americans Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula were the respective men’s and women’s US Open finalists last year. This could well be the Open farewell for Venus Williams, 45, Petra Kvitova and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia. The US Open women’s final will be played on Saturday, September 6th starting at 4 p.m. The US Open men’s final is set for Sunday, September 7th at a new start time of 2 p.m. at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
