Final Score:
Maalik Konop-Defreitas def. Anish Gupta 6-3, 6-3, 6-1
Maalik and Anish delivered a fantastic final, with both players competing at a very high level. Anish came out strong, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the opening set. After a slow start, Maalik elevated his game, rattling off six straight games to take the first set 6-3.
In Set 2, Anish again seized early momentum with a 2-0 lead. Once more, Maalik rose to the moment—breaking back, battling through long points, and closing out the set 6-3. The third set saw Maalik go on a tear and never look back. Anish fought hard while dealing with some physical issues, but Maalik continued to play lights-out tennis and clinched the final set 6-1.
Huge thanks to both Maalik and Anish for leaving it all on the court and exemplifying great sportsmanship throughout the match.
Also, thanks to USTA Chair Umpire Terry Chan who did a terrific job officiating the match.
